When common sense fails, remember you’re doing a NYT puzzle.
Another attempt to be cute and irritating that wouldn’t work on an iPad with the latest IOS. Thank God that it didn’t interfere with solving the basic puzzle…so what exactly is its value?
The Wordplay column (which I read after working the puzzle) is of no help at all given the arcana at the core of this puzzle. I don’t do NYT puzzles to get irritated.
@Anna. You don’t understand the original comment. No one cares about Mario’s standing in the video gaming market or pantheon. Whatever. The comment is about it’s suitability in an NYT puzzle.
@caleb no such thing as “different strokes”. You’re just wrong.
@Kurt There’s that old “culture” canard. Maybe it just has no place in a wide audience like this one.
@Kurt at this point, no one cares…
@Nat K A lot of comments extol the virtues of Mario and his ilk and take umbrage at any criticism of their age or cultural affinity. But the issue at hand, as Nat K so clearly states, is its suitability as a potential puzzle theme. I agree with Nat K. This is a niche theme if there ever was one. In today’s world, we see the widespread devotion to the “screen”. Now we know who started it.
