I imagine there are some proud teachers in the staff room today - with nods to algebra, biology, chemistry, social studies, and literature. Here’s to the educators who provide fuel for bright minds like Jackson Matz!!
Bravo!!! What a wonderful puzzle today. So many initial misdirects on my first pass (er….passes). I just love it when a puzzle is baffling at first - which OF COURSE I assume is bad cluing….then it slowly reveals itself, and you get on the right wavelength and see just how clever puzzle makers are. Thank you!! I needed a great puzzle like this today.
Not seeing casablanca - thus not familiar with the cast left me convinced for some time that Yoko Ono has a clear and distinctive history of playing the bongos. Of course, the name ‘Ibsa’ is not a common name, but what do I know. SUCH a clever clue in the end that probably very few people in the world stumbled over. Once again, I have promised myself to watch Casablanca. And Citizen Kane. And Breakfast at Tiffany’s…..
@CCNY you’ve conjured visions of a haunting battle cry for the goddess of war in the early hours. Not terribly scary, perhaps - but certainly would disrupt the sleep of the opponents.
