Loved the feisty dialogue at the north end of this crossword. “So what? Here’s a thought…” “Do you know who I am? I’m bad!”
I can’t get over how good the clueing is in this one. Delightful solve. Well done, Larry Snyder!
10 out of 10 for this one. A delightfully entertaining solve. Nice work, Tom McCoy!
@Rich in Atlanta I don’t understand. Why post an older crossword here, seemingly encouraging others to try, but then include spoilers for all the best theme entries?
Loved this puzzle, and loved the constructor notes at least as much too!
@Petrol bravo. This post needs more likes! Excellent @Mike in Munster material.
FONRITPAQOMOH! OMG, Deb, ICR!
Excellent puzzle! Fun theme, well executed. Kudos Rich Katz. I confess that, not knowing the film star at 35D, I was briefly convinced that 45A was a neologism I hadn’t yet learned, DADSPA, which I assume is a millennial father’s version of a mancave.
Filled in every square and still had to ask myself 37A
Loved these dad joke palindromes way more than I should have!
Well played, @replay . This comment deserves more upvotes.
Loved this! Though not surprised. Adam Wagner’s puzzles are regularly fun and clever. But, shouldn’t the double clues for the Down entries with R (I.e. 5D, 8D, 37D, and 51D) be reversed? For all of the other theme clues down and across, the leftmost part of the double clue corresponds to the L turn signal, and the rightmost to the R. (The blinking at the end highlights this visually.) It didn’t impede deciphering the puzzle, nor my appreciation of it! But it seems like it’d be more consistent if those Down clues followed the same format.
Did anyone else have a reflex reaction of bristling annoyance immediately upon seeing the (very appropriate) title of today’s Wordplay column? For a half second I was fooled into immediate frustration before realizing that indeed, this is Deb Amlen’s delightful Wordplay column, not the dreaded Robot Test! (H/t to comedian John Mulaney — definitely worth watching his 90 second bit on The Robot Test!)
@Vaer seriously! I saw the byline and immediately knew we were in for a real treat! I wasn’t wrong.
Fully agree. Magnificent misdirect !

Enjoyed the puzzle overall but 53D/63A was a full alphabet natick for me
Great puzzle! Delightful entries at the center and loved the cluing.
@Paul or opera for that matter
@CCNY agreed!! Ariela had some amazing clues here. I for one don’t think I’ll be able to here 70A again without thinking, “aww what a cute wittle goulash”
@Steve — I’m sure I’ve seen this cluing before!
@Michael Weiland I hadn’t seen that before but that’s an excellent clue!
