Camilla would be William and Harry’s Stepmum. If they were American she’d be their stepmom.

@redweather I don’t believe the British just vocalise it. They spell it. I worked there for 20 years. We answer clues with French indicators in French, we answer clues with Spanish indicators in Spanish. See also Italian. If the clue is about three British people the answer should be spelt in British English.

It’s a small pet peeve. But I wish there was one, set, NYT, accepted spelling for tsar, tzar, and czar. I struggle enough with the American idioms and brand names. But also this was a very good puzzle and I enjoyed it.

Needed the wordplay article. Seemed unsporting that in order to get any of the letters for the revealer you needed to have worked out the revealer. Hope that makes sense. I aplaude the creator - and am a tiny bit scared of that brain.

@redweather my point is that the standard is decided by the referenced country. This is not a Tsar, tzar, czar situation. One is correct in British English and one is not. The clue should have been “what is Melanias relationship to Eric and Don Jr”. Or similar. But you’re entitled to your opinion too. Goodnight

@Jonathan Baldwin. Agreed but I recognise Lav. And if I needed a Bath. I’d be upset if someone directed to one when I needed the other I’d be upset.

@Anonymous or are all residents/citizens of the USA. Or another country that uses Mom. Does Canada use Mom? I just know from my experience in Australia, the UK and Ireland, Stepmom would be considered a typo. I know it’s an American puzzle and I’ve adapted to a lot of the ‘local’ idioms (constantly learning more) but here it feels disingenuous to use British citizens to clue an American answer. Just my opinion- as others have commented it was an easy spot given the crossings and I enjoyed the puzzle- never in my life have I heard of a Jugband so that was a great learning experience
