@David Reiffel I also totally agree. And I am happy to see most of my other complaints mirrored in theses comments. However, I am still glad that the occasional truly difficult puzzle appears. Even (especially?) if it’s a bit cheat-y in its clues. Of course this is probably only true because I am enough of a fanatic that I don’t care how long it takes, I will finish the puzzle.

@Steve L We need a grammar-tician in on this one. I also felt it was two words. There are many hyphenated expressions that you will find that are two words (say, blue-green) but have one meaning, perhaps this makes them one word. OTOH, there is no rule about dictionaries that being in one requires that the expression consist of a single word.

@Pickles Wyngarden among others: CARELESS MISTAKE for what was obviously a deliberate mistake; BOPS, which is a verb not a noun; JEEZ with a j instead of g… still, I enjoyed the puzzle

@Jane Wheelaghan Liked the puzzle well enough, but didn’t like a couple of the same clues you didn’t. The clue for DECALS was so vague as to be meaningless—one that said “it’s got words” would have been as exacting. YEA BIG only means anything when it is accompanied by a gesture—holding one’s hands a certain distance apart, one says YEA (an indication toward the demonstrated span) BIG—thus, I find the clue is, at best, only half a clue.
