Petition to disable comment recommendations until the morning, so that the same group of 10PM ET solvers don’t continuously push each other’s “fun Tuesday puzzle…on a Saturday!” gripes to the top of the list every other weekend. This was a perfectly good and fair Saturday puzzle, thanks Adrian.

“RRIER”? “ LLION?” No tthhaannkkss. I solved the northwest first and assumed thought “capital” vaguely referred to money (MILLION), and somehow finished despite that assumption. But congrats to the curmudgeon crowd who view this as a “Sunday-worthy” puzzle.

Today I learned that, when you’re not a big reader, _H__UNALS__ISES is surprisingly difficult to figure out! Great puzzle, person whose name I forgot and which this silly app would require me to close out of this comment to look up!

ATONOF? The A was my last letter filled because I didn’t know what striplings are. But I don’t even see what word or words I’m spelling there. Someone please clarify? Other than that, very fun puzzle, the theme was excellent.

Wow. That was a challenge for me. ISOLDE/SALAT, the fact that DIDRIKSON fit the female baseball player clue and DECLINING over DIVESTING held me up extensively, especially throughout the middle section, where I struggled to get a foothold. But an impressive construction nonetheless with so few clues.

Agree with what seems to be the consensus…solid theme, but a half dozen brutal trivia crossings. Why is “Senatorial greeting” AVE?

Make 55/56/57 perhaps 10% less (insert your own pejorative) and this is a classic. I got it eventually, but that isolated rectangle ruined the puzzle for me.

Tough but fair for me. What is the significance of a TAILGATE having grills and grilles? What is the distinction there?

Any other non religious, non art enthusiasts have FRESCaS / CANTaR? Added a solid 5-10 minutes to my time.

Excellent puzzle. Makes up for last Friday’s absurdity. But I still don’t understand why streakers are “charged” with TASERS?
