Loved the puzzle and loved the constructors' comments.
Wow that went quickly. For some reason, I seemed to be on the right wavelength for this puzzle. Even though it was a quick solve for me, I liked it as it didn't have a lot of emus. The fill really helped with the long entries. This was fun.
@Michael I actually liked that clue instead of the often cited Ms Barrett, which seems like a clue from the 20th century. . . Keeping in mind that I was born in the middle of that century.
It took me a while, very little came to me in the first pass, but eventually I solved it, not needing any hints or googling, and I thought the long entries were fun. I enjoyed this puzzle. Then I thought I'd check in to read the inevitable humble brags of how easy this puzzle was. Could it be the puzzles are not easier, but you are just getting better at it?
@Steve Sometimes, these "not hard enough for a Saturday" complaints seem like humble brags to me. I also found this puzzle difficult.
Not sure why, but I COULD see the letter underlines on my phone, using the NY Times Games app. Perhaps because I'm using an Android?
Wow, that went quickly.
@Dr. S if you sue someone, you have a suit against them, and your lawyer has a case.
I enjoyed this one; the coin didn't drop until near the end.
Having a bit of a problem with spark plug as devise for starting an engine.
The theme answers were puzzling, but I was making such good progress the I decided to just keep going and see what happened. I was about half way through when the coin dropped. At that point, the level of difficulty for me went from a Thursday to a Tuesday.
@Aaron until you posted your comment, I was stuck on a Model T. A lot to keep track of on a smart phone.
I noticed the big C in the middle of the grid, and filed that in the back of my mind. It sat back there for quite a while until the "close the loop" answer was figured out. At that point, it was still challenging, but fun to figure out the theme clues. Took a while longer to figure out how to "close the loop" in the grid. Fun.
I got hung up by insisting that Fuzz just HAD to be LINT. But once I let that go, it went quickly, much quicker than my average Sunday solve
I thought Valentines Day was February 14th.
