Thoroughly enjoyed this one. For once, (on a Friday) I was on the same wavelength as the creators. No baseball references, no nostalgic brand names, no crosswordese. Nicely done. Thank you.

@Paul yes, lots of brand names is a dampener for those who didn't grow up stateside. Childhood references might be heartwarming for those familiar with them but can be tedious for the rest of us. At least there weren't a lot of baseball and gridiron clues. I got most of the way on my own but had to use Autocheck to finish.

I enjoyed this one. Fewer look ups than usual on a Saturday. No sports abbreviations or coaches and only one politician--thank you! International solvers might not know about the tasty tatertot. And I didn't know Kix. Americans understandably expect that the world knows their childhood treats. Thanks, Robert for a spectacularly interconnected puzzle that made for an enjoyable solve.

@SP Let's look for the clue: 'What Tom famously Poisoned in the Park.'

@Joe I thought the dilated pupils of belladonna were what a person's eyes do when looking at that beautiful woman. Here's a scholarly reference if you are curious: https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/pharmacology-toxicology-and-pharmaceutical-science/atropa-belladonna

@Jon. That clue and answer were lost on me until I read your note. Thanks for helping me take that little stone out of my shoe.

@Paul I didn't love this puzzle either. The lower left hand corner took me ages. Are they wings because they're L-shaped? I thought of the Deutsch bussi for a kiss. And found a reference to it in archaic English. Looking forward to a breezier Sunday...
