Fast and no lookups for me. Immensely enjoyable though. Whether it should be ranked as a Saturday puzzle really doesn’t matter to me in the context of making me smile between cinnamon roll bites and sips of cortado at my local coffee shop. A smile, a cinnamon roll, and a good coffee seem like the perfect Saturday morning to me.
I struggled a bit on this one, 2:xx slower than my average. Theme went right over my head—when I saw the section of the column regarding the theme…just, what? Makes me a little concerned for my -actual- Monday tomorrow. Would prefer a less Monday-y Monday.
Good grief this was good. Truly enjoyable, and glad to see no red-shirted ensigns were harmed in this puzzle. Anyone else have sWORD of LWORD until STAPsER just didn’t work?
Clever theme clues. Truly enjoyed it! Fairly easy fill, TVTAPES threw me, but AVE made that accessible. Thanks for an enjoyable puzzle!
I enjoyed it. Easy but entertaining. Quite the ROMP. The revealer made me groan, but in a good way.
@Nancy you’ve never actually heard the song, have you… It’s a pretty perfect title for the song -she- wrote. While in high school. And now it’s triple platinum. So…
Super fun! Found the ANT in the ULQ immediately, but what fun to find 9 more through the puzzle!
I was flummoxed by the theme until I solved CHANGEOFHEART, then the puzzle went much more smoothly. Although overconfidence lead to some consternation with “switchingGEARS” for a bit.
@Steve I had dADJOKES filled in. And honestly I prefer that! 😂
@Kevin I find myself in the same boat—realizing that all those folks who I saw commenting how easy the puzzles have been may just be coming into their own.
Did I miss a payoff clue pointing to the removal of the “Is”? Or was the puzzle title the only hint?
I’m sure I’ve just been listening to too much TSwift, but could someone explain “Leave a bad review” solving to PAN?
@Barry Ancona I rarely look at the titles before solving. That’s probably a mistake! Ha!
Very clever, although by the time I clicked the theme I only had 2 thematic answers left. Welcome back Thursday puzzles!
@Matthew Wilcox I’ll admit Luigi crossed my mind.
@Liz M agreed, felt like a feisty Tuesday rather than a Thursday.
