How can the answer to 15A "Button to hit after accidentally deleting an entire manuscript" be anything other than PANIC?!
Blowing you an air kiss from afar, Deb. Thanks for turning me into a resourceful solver. I will forever think of you when I get stuck and remind myself to take a break and walk away, so my brain can process in the background. Never fails. Happy trails. 😚
Deb, I will really miss your voice in this column. Your natural instinct to encourage, prod, and reassure solvers is a treasure, the like of which we could certainly use more of in this world. I will miss you every time, late in the week, when I get stuck and think, "I hope this is a Deb Day," as I head to the Wordplay column for a lifeline. With a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat, I thank you very much for your service. Go forth and enjoy!
@FC Stax Studios was a legendary recording studio in Memphis. Lots of greats recorded there, notably Otis Redding.
@SamCorbin. Saw your book announcement yesterday. Congratulations!
I concur with all of you that this was a devilishly satisfying puzzle (that grid!). But I must offer kudos to the Wordplay blog for leading with a photograph of young Jalen Brunson when he was playing for Villanova's championship team. Now he is leading the New York Knicks in a title run that is truly one for the ages. New Yorkers are kvelling, with outdoor watch parties popping up all over the city as the 53-year title drought appears to be coming to an end. Go KNICKS!
@Tom Wright-Piersanti Nice job on the Wordplay column. Your way of offering encouragement and practical tips feels right at home on a Monday. Tonally, as if you'd always been here. Nailed it.
This was a doozy. I needed Caitlin's explanation in the Wordplay blog to get me going. And I don't apologize for that. ;-) Whatever helps me keep getting better.
@John Appleseed I love your description of this puzzle as "four independent Midis." That's exactly how it felt!
Good morning. The link to Connections is broken. Using NYT Games app on Google Pixel 7 Pro running Android Version 15.
@Jane Wheelaghan Yes, that's a tough one if you are not familiar with U.S. high school AP (advanced placement) courses. They are very tough courses taken by the top students, and often count for college credit. So, someone who intends to study a PreMed course in college is probably a science whiz who took AP Bio (Advanced Placement Biology) in high school.
@SBK in TO I believe Sam Corbin has been on a short leave finishing her (sure to be punny and funny) book. I miss her, too, when she's not here to start the week.
