I'm mostly a lurker in these parts, but I wanted to say thanks to all the columnists and regular posters in the comments thread who helped me reach a 1000 game streak today. Absorbing your knowledge has helped my solving skills tremendously, and while those 1000 games came with their fair share of lookups especially in the early days, those lookups are a lot fewer and further between now than they were in the beginning, even on the late week puzzles. I still somehow have an average time of 15 hours, 59 minutes and 10 seconds on Saturdays due to a timer glitch that the games team was unable to resolve, but perhaps in a decade I can get that average under 10 hours. Cheers and happy new year.

@Paul Turner I’m sure I am not the only one who used crosses to determine that assuredly NO ONE has done it. Thanks for the correction!

I finished this in 1.7% of my average Saturday time. Admittedly, this is partially because I’m still working on the technical glitch from years ago that still now has my average Saturday solve time at 622 minutes, but this was nevertheless still on par with my average Tuesday solve time.

@Edward RDA/ADESTE was actually my stab at an anchor in the SE! I can’t imagine if I didn’t have that, considering that my final issue in the SE was not knowing three letters crossing HOPIN in HOGS_EAD (hogsmead sounded like a thing), _HME (a or o?) and B_NET (probably an I?).

@Mean Old Lady Thanks for your post on my Wordle spoiler earlier. In addition to my apology, I took the action to flag it as off topic and it seems to have been removed finally. Phew! The Wordle Review is a lovely crew that posts here: https://www.nytimes.com/spotlight/wordle-review Hope you stop by, but only after having played as it’s one of the game columns where spoilers in the comments are standard.
