Fun puzzle for the end of 2024 which I found a little easier than yesterday’s. Thank you to the folks at NYT Puzzle Central. Thank you to Sam, Deb, and Caitlin for wonderful columns day after day. Happy to read that Will Shortz continues to make progress in his recovery. Today may be the end of our current streak (1,725) as we’re beginning our vacation to Antarctica and don’t know how good the Internet will be. Happy New Year to all!
@Lewis Got home a little late last night- Jeopardy had been on about 5 minutes. Looked at the TV and told my wife, Hey that’s Paolo Pasco. She looked at me strangely wondering how I would know a random Jeopardy contestant. You’re right. I could not believe how fast he nailed those anagram answers. Very impressive Double Jeopardy round. And he had some stiff competition from the contestant to his right. Looking forward to this evening.
A fun Friday puzzle! Today I had to solve this solo (my partner is visiting her family this weekend). Started with 1A as usual and thought of SANDS but was thinking (like @Lewis) that 1D was mute. So I took it out and went to another part of the puzzle. The NE was my breakthrough, then the SW, SE. Finally returned to the NW and SANDS was right. Excellent clueing, nice long answers, very little junky fill. Liked PLEASE BE PATIENT and WORK/LIFE BALANCE. Finished a little under our average.
