A NAAN is baked in a tandoor, not a tandoori. Tandoori is an adjective.
A fast solve for a Thursday even though I didn't understand the theme at all. You don't need to in order to solve this one. I was very pleased to figure out Lab report.
Elie Levine has all the facts right about Assam including the very real rhino. Except she is looking in the wrong corner of India. It's in northeastern India not northwest
@Steven M.i had EIGHT for so long. And felt so pleased about myself. Just like I did the other day with DAD JOKE
Even without having seen the film in years I managed to get all the film related clues using the crosses. But was stuck forever on eyeglasses because I had only ever known of them as SPECS. DOH
Today I learned I have been using TRAIPSE wrong all these years after I assumed "walk wearily" must mean TRUDGE. I always thought I was sauntering without a care when I was traipsing. Now I know better
Diwali and Holi are HINDU festivals. HINDI is just a language. One should not confuse the religion with the language especially since HINDUs who speak many different languages all celebrate Diwali and Holi.
@Esmerelda COMP from complimentary
Superb theme. So relatable. Well done. It was a very smooth landing.
I understood what was going on but solving it on the phone I realised I didn't know what symbols or signs the SHIFT key allowed us to toggle between. Things we see everyday without it registering.
Today 29A or went in haste solves to a word that today's Spelling Bee rejects. And it's not a proper noun either.
Who else got RADIO and confidently filled in PUBLIC before it? And thought Athenian lawgiver ending in O must be PLATO despite the ruthless in the clue? And is it my fault that STANDING water is also STAGNANT water? This puzzle took a while!
Very smooth Puzzle. Didn't wreak HAVOC though I could think of a lot of farmer market sights. But can I grumble about Connections. I was sure the Star Wars touch was a red herring because I knew we spelled it CHEWIE not CHEWY. And now it's been changed!
@Alex i was sad that DAD JOKE wasn't the answer. I wasted a chuckle
Do cows chew CUDS? I thought they all chewed one great cud.
The Hi tripped me up. Because I thought Yes?might be a perfectly apt follower to a Hi. And then the INDY drivers would all need to Stay By Your Engines
Great Puzzle though I was so convinced that time travel must involved WORMHOLEs I was stuck forever there.
I often download an APP but cannot recall anyone ever saying casually "Let's get an APP before our Main." Not sure why a Tuesday puzzle would choose the latter over the former.
@Jenna G. Thats interesting. I have personally never met anyone who calls themselves HINDI rather than HINDU. Just as I have never met anyone who calls themselves URDU. The confusion probably stems from the fact that we are used to words like FRENCH and GERMAN standing in for both the language and the nationality. Thats not the case with HINDI and INDIAN and certainly not with HINDU. Many Hindus don't speak Hindi but certainly celebrate festivals like Diwali or Holi. I guess it would be a bit like calling Thanksgiving an ENGLISH festival insteadvof an AMERICAN one.
I figured out the theme soon enough. But was looking to COVER a FOURTH base
@Sean i was sure the Jewish honorific would be RAB. And acarte vs ecarte was all the same to me
@Andrzej many SHOTs IN THE DARK then?
Who else thought "Found you" was more a BOO than an OHO?
Confusingly Juno also keeps coming up as the Roman goddess of childbirth though of course it does not fit here.
Went through all possible letters xSU for the Wildcats since I don't know my sports. But why is a Royal adversary a TWIN? Is it a bedsheet size reference I am missing?
General and tank. And PATTON fit. Messed up that quadrant forever.
@Patrick i misread PASTE as PASTA and went your route
Why does New Jersey solve to CALF? And who else was stuck on Pilsner without the extra E?
