I feel like The Hunger Games was supposed to be the gimme in the NE, but not knowing it, it's hard to guess fantasy name spellings, so it was the last corner for me.

Ooof, it just took forever to click. I understood that the theme was going to have something to do with "abs", but I couldn't see how adding or removing "abs" from "exponents" fixed anything....

I thought the rule was, "If the clue is [conspicuously] in another language; the answer will be in the same language." What gives, NYT?
