I am so annoyed with how I struggled in the SE corner, and for no good reason. Anyone else second, third, and fourth guess themselves??? Anyway, great puzzle today - really got my adrenaline pumping!
OMG…I stared in frustration at the solved puzzle for about 10 minutes before it hit me like a ton of bricks (or ice)! It made no sense, until it did, which of course made me smile! Great fun for a Thursday morning!
Maybe I’m having a bad morning, but I found the theme rather laborious. I still finished in record time but had to read the column to fully understand the connection, I’d have used the word “clunky”, but Katie below beat me to it!
@Richard G There are clearly enough of us that use - and pay - for the app that we should be afforded the courtesy of having all of the same details as the non-app users! Could they really not figure out how to underline in the clues?
@W johnson Ah yes, being a native of “the ‘Burgh’ and a Pitt alumni, many late night hours were spent in the beloved “O” munching on a hot dog and the best fries in the world trying to stave off the inevitable hangover. We all miss it to this day! 😥
Loved this puzzle, a real head scratcher at first but once the theme hit, it was smooth sailing! Thanks for a fun solve Joe!
Loved, loved, loved this puzzle! Being a Looney Tunes fan all of my life (still watch to this day), once “BEEPBEEP” came into focus, the rest fell like dominoes for me - 53 minutes better than my average! Great puzzle, fun solve!
Usually the Thursday puzzles leave me with a smile or a chuckle. Not today. I have to agree with Sam - too much math, especially for a retired CPA…
Did anyone else reading the circled squares “left to right” go straight across the top, then down to the next row, etc.? I knew it was “ELFABA” but the direction was a bit tricky. IMHO at least. Loved the musical btw, likely won’t see the movie however.
@John Dietsch And “SOUTHEAST” was accepted for me, and I too missed the gimmick. And still wondering if I would have ever figured it out before reading Caitlin’s column.
