Solid, pleasant Monday. Congratulations on your debut.
Proper Saturday difficulty, and an enjoyable puzzle altogether. Thanks.
@Jane Wheelaghan It's a very rarely used American slang term for a hundred dollar bill. "C-note" is the more common form, and even that is pretty niche and old-timey. It's something a gangster from the 20th century might say with a cigar hanging out of his mouth. If you heard it these days it would likely be for comedic effect.
It's neat because it's a Saturday grid, but a Tuesday difficulty, so you get a little something for everyone.
@Laura Stratton As in a car manufacturer recalling a car--thereby taking it off of the road, so to speak.
Nice and tough. Enjoyed it. I had Have Mercy sitting at 69A for awhile before sorting things out, so now I have La Grange by ZZ Top stuck in my head. No complaints.
@a I'm curious--are you saying it was too easy, or too difficult? In my opinion, this puzzle was a on the easier side of what I consider the range of "proper," or perhaps I should say "personally hoped for," Saturday difficulty. No, it doesn't compare to the Saturdays of, say, 10 plus years ago. But these days we very often get Saturdays that feel like Wednesdays to me.
@Geoffrey King I had the same experience with today's puzzles. Small delay after completing. I assumed that was because I do all internet things on my phone hot spot--which usually works fine, but occasionally does not. Looks like the problem might not have been on my end.
