This was my favorite solve in a long time -- so fun and so funny. I laughed out loud as I solved 2D, about 2/3 of my way through the puzzle.

Loved this puzzle -- appropriately challenging but no Naticks, so I could deduce trivia I didn't know or remember (Tilted Arc, People's Elbow, Yelich). Well done!

@navcad82 I love learning new things while I work these puzzles (ECHOISM is a great example) but IGOTTAJET is a phrase I have never heard or read, and one I hope never to hear or read again.

My initial answer to 14A was BAMA, which seemed entirely reasonable to me until the crossings made clear it wouldn't work.
