It seemed easy for a Friday, didn’t it? Liked it though.
@Scott I was sooo glad to read the explanation— that was way too gross for the NYT!
@Wggwg My problem with it is that the head is L — the head plus the second letter is ELS. If you’re working in English at least. No?
61A I had NEAT but when I realized the theme clues were missing ICE, I changed it to WITH, as in WITH (ICE). I was quite fond of that! Too bad it destroyed my SW corner.
How do we feel about surmount for rest on? OK if I surmount a task, I might rest on my laurels, but I don’t think it can be clued like that.
@Candy oh, man! So frustrating. Good luck!
@Divs I wonder if they meant JIGGY, which is past slang for good?
@Nanci this was puzzle number 26 with a gold star and no googling or help from family, or rather I should say it would have been, but I couldn’t get the middle letter of Hexer for the life of me. Holly sent me straight and I was able to fix everything from there. I’ll take it!
My app is saying something is wrong with my completed grid but I’ve proofread it carefully, then checked against the answer key, then used AI to compare the two grids. Anyone else having this issue? Help, I’m on a streak!
