I have not seen Prell in ages but can recall the scent from childhood.
Given the theme which I didn't fully catch onto, I wanted verity to be verita so badly I was blinded and couldn't finish without help. Sometimes one cannot see the saltus for the abores.

@Jim I was certain the phrase was "wreck and ruin" so Enna made no sense. I gave up and did the puzzle check. Learned to my delight (and dismay) the phrase is "wrack and ruin."

@Jane Wheelaghan Can, John, Loo and toilet are all words referring to a lavatory (or rest room).
