@Dave Agreed. This clue is simply incorrect and misleading.
Are the editors on vacation? AESOP and ONO are answers on consecutive days. No chance that this week's Monday and Tuesday could have been split further apart? At least we have been spared OREO for two days at least.
@B Gosh, because it's all about you. Perhaps there are MANY newcomers to the Times Crossword who appreciate being able to learn as they go and appreciate the gradual ramping of difficulty. There's a hundred years of Friday's and Saturday's in the Archive if you are so 'brilliant'.
Easy breezy and exactly what a Monday should be. For anyone starting their NYT crossword journey, this is a perfect starter.
@Andrzej It doesn't though. If a player handles in the box, it is often a penalty but no card unless the ball is handled on the line!
@Matt I never heard of him and completed that clue with the crossings. The rest of the puzzle was splendid for a Monday. Just the right amount of crunch.
@Walter This times a hundred!!!
@at Indeed the plural of the euro currency is EURO. No 's' so the clue is technically incorrect.
