Are the editors on vacation? AESOP and ONO are answers on consecutive days. No chance that this week's Monday and Tuesday could have been split further apart? At least we have been spared OREO for two days at least.
@B Gosh, because it's all about you. Perhaps there are MANY newcomers to the Times Crossword who appreciate being able to learn as they go and appreciate the gradual ramping of difficulty. There's a hundred years of Friday's and Saturday's in the Archive if you are so 'brilliant'.
