@Jake G Not sure how you can present two cents anymore with the demise of the penny. The beautiful thing about crosswords is that everyone can make their own personal set of “rules”. I’m sure there are hard and fast rules for competitions but at my dining room table with a cup of coffee I just like to solve the puzzle. If sometimes I need a bit of help to come up with the latest 12 year old kids’ texting slang so be it.
Found today’s puzzle easy. Yesterday’s was impossible and I gave up early. This reminded me of the relief I felt when I stopped being concerned with streaks. I had a 300 plus day streak before the pandemic. I was totally obsessed. Panicked if I thought I might miss getting to the puzzle. Total time zone confusion while traveling in Asia. The streak ended and I felt massive relief. I went a year without looking at a puzzle. I returned and vowed to ignore streaks. Now I just shoot for. We personal bests. Before I would have driven myself crazy over yesterday’s puzzle. Now I just walk away thinking I’ve got another opportunity for a PB

@Timothy Thanks for characterizing my antipathy towards this puzzle. I guess I just have to stop doing puzzles. And to think that for all of these years I thought I was enjoying it.

@ReaderThought Oneida immediately When the crosses didn’t fit I looked up Finger Lakes and Oneida was not listed. Didn’t get back to Oneida until the very end.
@Louise As a life long Chicagoan I can tell you that whether the train runs on elevated tracks, in the subway or down the center of the expressway it’s always the L. My Brown Line stop is at grade level but it’s still the L

@William Kash Maybe it’s a Chicago thing. I had exactly the same issue.
@William Kash. I’m near the Rockwell Brown Line stop and the train runs at grade level here. When walking to the neighborhood bar and the train crosses the street I think of “Train Street” in Hanoi
