Reminds me of a favorite Schroedinger puzzle from a few years back where the revealer could be either STARWARS or STARTREK but this one is genius level.
Today I was taught to realize that KNIGHTS, DWARVES, MAIDENS, and DAMSELS, unfortunately in that order, all have the same number of letters.
All those episodes of Night Court I watched as a kid finally paid off for 51A!
A puzzle very worthy of a Saturday in my opinion. Took 15 minutes longer than my average. I was stuck with “RES” and “SYLISE” for a long time and had to reveal the one wrong letter. Oof.
Pretty fun once you figure out the stacked rebus theme! Happy Thanksgiving!
Wow that was tricky. Now it's late so I must RED puzzling and GREEN to bed.
@Sam I had to Google it; schwa noun PHONETICS the unstressed central vowel (as in a mom e nt a go), represented by the symbol /ə/ in the International Phonetic Alphabet.
Fun puzzle once you figure out the theme, but TEC was just LAM
