3 down- I had IPAD____ at first, and then got the rest from the crossers. Couldn’t understand what iPad dress meant. 😂

As usual, I solved the puzzle in spite of the unhelpful clues. Then: Puzzle constructor: See what I did there? Me: No.
No more guacamole- tariffs.
I had a little trouble with OMELETTE - but hmmm, OK.
@Bonnie Ann I can relate. I often find that after taking a break from a baffling puzzle, more answers come to me when I return. Maybe our subconscious keeps working on it.
Football, beer, poker- out of my depth on this one
@Francis I get some of the crossers, then look at the partial word and fill in the blanks with letters that make it a word, even though the clue seems irrelevant. (Ok, it makes no sense, but it’s Thursday.) So now I have more clues to the other crossers, and I go from there.
