@Mr Dave It's not being rude to observe that someone is lacking a skill. If I complained about never being able to make a straight cut with a hand saw and a skilled woodworker told me that I just needed to practice because I was not skilled enough yet, I shouldn't feel insulted. If, on the other hand, they said it was because I was not very smart, then I'd call that rude.
