That was pretty hard but VERY fun!!
I was really hoping the animal magnetism would lead to the male and female of the same animal like sow to boar, or cow to bull, etc. I don’t really see how an eel and a rat, or an ant and a dog, are attracted to each other.
I was NOT prepared for VHS tapes to be considered vintage.
GET UP STEAM really irked me
I finished the puzzle with DOUGH BRAINER then checked all my answers before realizing I had to change the N twice in that clue!
So I solved all the clues (bottom center was the hardest) and rotated the locks as suggested. Then I went through each clue again looking for mistakes. Then I checked the answer key and I had no mistakes. Then I realized I wasn’t supposed to rotate the letters myself and had to un-rotate them to get to solve.
A bit easy for a Friday but I did love seeing TODAY YEARS OLD. I was not fond of GENE SET and I kept trying to force GENETIC and GENOMES to fit in there.
I had DISH instead of DIRT which gave me HBO instead of TMC.
Fun puzzle but very easy for a Sunday
MUTATE does not mean SHAPE SHIFT
I had never heard of 72D before.
Im not sure it’s the E at the end of DRIVE, I think it’s the E after you pronounce the ROAD part of RODEO. Also, I was expecting some sort of unlocking animation at the end. Otherwise what is the purpose of the spaces between 49 and 52 Across and 58 and 59 Across?
39A is BROACHES not BROACHED
42A sounds like pure gibberish
15A No Dice does not mean Nothing Doing 32A Testifying and Deposing are not the same. Testifying and being Deposed are also not the same thing. 57A “Animals in the wild hitting musical pitches” is a bit of a stretch. 64A Telegraph is almost never used as a verb 48D I guess toddlers could wear Onesies but they are mostly for younger kids
Easiest Sunday puzzle in a long time
Link to solved puzzle is wrong. Takes you to a puzzle from 2018.
@TMD I also tried ONEONLY and ONLYONE
5 min faster than my Thursday average. Didn’t get the theme after 18A but after enough down solves gave me 25A, I worked backwards and the rest was easy breezy. Favorite clue was 35A. Least favorite clue was 11D.
@Aaron yet no clue about percentages!
Fun puzzle but too easy for a Friday. Finished in less than half my usual Friday time.
34 down is SAINTED not Saints
Lady GAGA also has a #1 single and an acting Oscar.
@Jan Wolitzky are you suggesting the clue should have been “somethings pointy grown by Pinocchio”?
Wouldn’t HAS GAME be kinda the opposite of Can’t Hold Ones Own??
Almost a great puzzle. Only one I had trouble with was 34 Across which to me had to be STOLE until I got through all the crossings. Still not loving the answer as I don’t think it’s a good clue/answer pairing.
