Happy to see METONYM -- a favorite. Menotomy Park around the corner from my pad brings this word to mind. An excellent concept. Happy happy. Didn't know kitten STILETTO a thing. Would have thought it an oxymoron. What happened to "Abbrev." for ETC? Sometimes I miss the tense. Oversell needed to be changed to OVERSOLD. Never heard of SOPOR. Soporific, yes. Uniform Resource LOCATOR. I'd forgotten 'bout that. Wasn't sure how to spell JULEP. Overall a fun puzzle for me -- right at the edge of my capabilities. I knew enough to take a shot, make mistakes, and figure it out. I'm finally learning to apply the patterns (noticing the COMs, the asterisks). It's like learning to think about the first or last halves of words in Connections. Yay puzzles.
I didn't know TITER, although familiar with titration. Don't know from neither Marine One nor Mia Hamm. Never heard of duad or octad. DES as from abroad. Tricky. The S in LSD/ARSE nearly killed me.
@Joanie I think of kitten heels as narrow and short, as distinct from tall stilettos.
