@debamien As a math teacher, I had several students challenge themselves to memorizing over 100 digits of pi. Thanks to a rousing cheer from our alma mater I can always remember 5. Sine, Cosine, Cosine, Sine 3.14159 Go Science!
All clues point to sign? What you do at the end of a letter or your taxes… or clue to the circled words. Very confusing puzzle. Frustrating and annoying as a Tuesday.
@Bonnie The acronym CODA is much more widely known since the movie with that title won the 2022 academy award.
I loved this puzzle! I had fun wrestling with the theme and adjusting early guesses . When I put in the final letter and got that delightful congratulatory tune, I was so relieved I didn’t have any typos. What a thoughtful and considerate constructor!
Trusted my instincts and filled what I knew on the downs. Then the a acrosses did not make sense, changed and changed and finally turned @debamien column. It turns out my instincts were correct but I did not notice those lines at all. Argh! I love Thursdays but my vision is deteriorating.
Clever but too easy. Looking forward to struggling through next Thursday’s challenge.
Missing music is cutting not absent. When you’re absent you miss all the classes. I can think of much better clues for absent. Not here. Not present. Home sick. Lacking. Void. Day-dreaming. Election Day early voter.
I loved this puzzle and if were doing the print version, I’d be quite proud of myself. Done! Put down the pen. But sadly like most Sundays I spend 30 minutes peering closely at my phone trying to find the typo or misspelling or incorrectly corrected error I left behind that is preventing me from hearing that lovely song. One clue at a time. Does anyone else have this problem? I can’t spot my keys on a cluttered countertop. The doc said it was attention. What I’m concentrating! Isn’t that attention? ADD! Wrong letter finding deficit disorder is more like it. I’ll take any advice I can get. Not for my ADD just for completing the puzzle.
@Eric TBD annoyed me to no end. There is no implied promise that the information will be shared. TBA implies the information will be disseminated. The cluing is not a mislead. It’s inaccurate.
@BW First thing I found when I googled it.
@Barry Ancona Yes. Lovely misdirect because of vinyl ha ha. Skipping equals cutting. I skipped class. I didn’t stay home or go to the doctor.
@SP I don’t know what you are asking. No where. I didn’t say anything to imply missing all the classes in a given class. When you are absent from one class out of the whole day, you probably cut that class.
@SP I meant all of the classes of the day in high school.
@Just Saying Thank you!
@B It crossed into unfair. I’m obviously in the minority and it did not stop me from finishing the puzzle. I’m not a clue writer. At this point nothing I say will sound clever, misdirecting or challenging because you already know the answer. Six pack selfie?
@SP Skipping one class period while you are at school is cutting. I never said the entire course.
@Andrzej The best time to aim for Queen Bee is when the points needed for genius is low, like 60 or 70. Queen Bee is double AMAZING so with so few words it’s easier to achieve. These are the only puzzles where I’ve gotten there. Oops! Wrong discussion area. I enjoyed this crossword despite the ease. I had trouble with “toe trouble”. Corn? Wart? Why gout?
