Agree with others that the balance of "huh?" clues to "oh wow that was clever" clues was off on this one. I don't mind a difficult Saturday, but this wasn't one of my favorites.
What a fun puzzle!!! I don't comment often, but I just wanted to give kudos to the creator for such a great idea, well-executed. I loved it!!!
Loved this one! Fun, challenging, but also relatively swift with a lot of entries that made me smile. I entered "girl, same" instead of SAMESIES which messed me up for a bit. Same era, different phrase. Oops!
Loved the theme, hated the multiple obscure clues on a Tuesday.
Great puzzle today. It took me far, far longer than my Saturday average, but it was the best kind of difficult with a lot of smiles on the "aha" moments.
@PuzzleDog Now that you say it, I do think it had the same feel as a Robin Weintraub, who is one of my favorite constructors!
Absolutely loved the long fill today. Great clues too. Challenging for me, but just easy enough to get through it. Nowhere near a PR but lots of smiles as I figured it out. Thank you to the constructor!
Great puzzle! A really clever take on the obvious theme for today.
Kate Hawkins is one of my favorite bylines to see pop up, and today was as fun as usual. Got stuck a few times, but enjoyed it immensely.
Fun and appropriately challenging Friday puzzle. I got the NW corner really easily, but then the other areas were harder. Lots of sly chuckles as I figured some of these out. Congrats on a fun debut to this constructor!
This one was right in my wheelhouse. I really enjoyed it. I was surprised to see some of the comments here about the obscure clues - I guess I'm just the right demographic. GenX Midwesterner. Of COURSE there's Chex in puppy chow - that was an easy fill for me. I guess that is a regional treat, but it was a sleepover staple of my childhood.
@Lewis Really fantastic work by both of you. Congratulations & I hope to see your bylines again!!
I came in here expecting lots of "that one was too easy" comments, and I'm a little surprised not to see that this time! I found it extremely fun, but also close to a PR for a Saturday. Delightfully done in one go, which is very rare for me on a Saturday. Sometimes one is just on the wavelength of the constructor - thanks for the great puzzle today!
Fun and clever. Great Monday puzzle!
Loved this one! Fun word play, and I loved to see THRASHER in the puzzle.
This was above my average time, and I loved it. Very clever idea, and the execution was quite good without too much junk fill.
Cute theme. Difficult for me for a Wednesday, but in a fun way.
Tough one, but when revealed I found myself chuckling with a big face palm. Nice debut! Hope to see more from this creator.
What a fun puzzle! I loved it! Clever and fun - tripped me up just enough to get the satisfaction of a few great "aha" moments.
@Grant That clue made me laugh out loud. So clever.
@The X-Phile I had both MERLOT and MALBEC there for a time. Another very clever clue today!
@Kevin I was so annoyed by this clue too!!
