Yeah, it was on the challenging side. It’s Saturday. Many of the clues were tough, but I thought all of them were fair. I chuckled at a fair few: DOGIES, IRS, BSIDE, ZOMBIEMOVIES. Ironically, despite having grown up about 75 miles from London, Ontario, it took me forever to figure out the clue wasn’t about the one in the UK.
@Henry Su the I in TRI was the last thing I filled. I was convinced it was wrong because it was in the clue.
Um, if lemurs only exist in Madagascar, how come I see them in zoos all over the place? Do the zoo lemurs not exist? Are they holographic lemur projections?
Reposting this because it appears the emus are currently digesting my original attempt. If lemurs only exist on Madagascar, then why do I keep seeing them in zoos all over the place? Do the zoo lemurs not exist? Are they holographic virtual lemurs? More emu bait down here. And a little more because I’ve been burned once today.
I was equal parts horrified and amused by TVs being an item mounted above a fireplace. If you don’t know why, google tv too high. So many people are egregious but unknowing offenders.
@Michael it didn’t for me in the iOS 18.1 version of the NYT Games app. Maybe a glitch in the version you’re using? There be emus down here
I’m not saying this isn’t an appropriate way to clue it in a crossword puzzle, but I’ll point out for completeness that the clue for 30A is technically incorrect. The entire human genome can be stored in about 700 megabytes (though in practice it isn’t). However, our genes comprise only a small fraction of the genome and don’t require that amount of storage.
@JayTee I had a similar problem. Filled all the squares (except the T’s — I’m on iOS) but no music or error message. I flyspecked and found and fixed an error and then got the happy music without filling the T’s. I feel like it should have given me the “bummer you have an error” pop up when I initially finished filling the grid.
@Jonathan Agreed. Flat out wrong. How deep do the EMUs go?
