This is a charming puzzle. I especially appreciate the fact that the constructor keeps trivia and obscure facts to a minimum.

@Rahul I agree. The basic premise was simple.: you fill in the names of artists hidden in rebus squares. But the editor’s explanation made the effort seem much more complicated. Not the Times’ finest hour.

@VaerAs an old guy of 75, I don't have much patience anymore for people who find fault. It's too easy a thing to do. Crosswords should be fun and challenging and bring pleasure.

The rebus squares should have been circles, as per usual practice. Also, I feel that there was less here than meets the eye. You fill in the names of famous artists. That's it. Am i missing something?
