I enjoyed this one! 1A was one of the last clues to fall for me and I always appreciate a puzzle that makes me work for the first clues. Tough but extremely fair. More tough Fridays, please and thank you.

I love opening a Saturday and seeing a white expanse. Pleasantly tough with the first pass yielding only a few answers but on the second and third, everything fell into place. Escargots was my favorite today!

I'm in the minority but I love a chewy puzzle that takes a couple passes to fill. I don't want gimme's. Obscure references are fine, even a Natick. The only answer I wasn't familiar with from prior experience is LOOPERS. Lots of annoyance at SAvOR vs SAPOR in the comments. The act of savoring is so much more than a taste of something. I would have been disappointed if that were the answer.
