@kim E minor also has one sharp (F#); it’s the relative minor of g. Both are correct answers, only one fits the puzzle :)
Enjoyed being puzzled. That’s why I’m here. A few oddities but nothing out of bounds for a Thursday. Theme was fun and puzzling for a minute, and my brain had to work a bit to see the replaced letters.
Fun puzzle today, super quick fill more akin to a Monday for me. Funny how some puzzles just fall into place! I thought the theme was fun, enjoyed the extra trick of NIHAO and HELLO ending with the same letter before I figured out the theme completely. Like others, I had Oxford comma for a while before caving to cross fills.
@Grant It’s perfectly common to use a trowel in concrete work and unwise to use cement without sand for anything structural. A bricklayer uses mortar, which is also distinct from concrete and cement. I agree with Blake on this one.
@ad absurdum perhaps it has to do with order force? unbeknownst to most native English speakers, there are rules for the sequencing of adjectives. That’s why big red house sounds fine but red big house sounds off. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/grammar/british-grammar/adjectives-order
