Regarding 44 across, this brings out the 12 year old in so many of us. I got a much needed giggle recently from a WaPo headline stating "Uranus may have been misunderstood for nearly 40 years." Showed it to a friend who was feeling down from the bombardment of election news and it was the best laugh he'd had in weeks. Fun puzzle.
My Gen-X heart is loving SIDE A. Especially since I had to explain what a cassette tape was just two weeks ago. (I still have wheels that can play them.)
I think the hardest part was realizing how this wasn't a terribly tricky Thursday puzzle. My brain kept looking for zebras. Nice to just enjoy and not struggle.
59A was my last to fill in and I laughed loud enough to wake hub. I cannot say it so I no longer attempt to pronounce it correctly. In my house we call it worst-er-sister sauce.
I will never look at -or- words the same way again. Like many others I didn't catch on till the end, but wow! Brilliant.
Fun puzzle, though when it comes to zebra donkey hybrids I prefer "zonkey" to "zedonk." Just more fun to say. And I'm a bit ashamed of myself as one who often has a book in front of my face I couldn't think what those squiggly lines meant. Didn't get curl up until reading the blog. But I'm more likely to sprawl out with one.
@Marshall Walthew thank you for explaining TEALS. I came to the comments specifically for that.
