@Steph, the stirrup is one of the tiny bones in the inner ear that enables hearing. The medical term is ‘stapes’.
Clever theme, kudos to the constructor. No trouble completing. But maybe I’m just slow tonight — I needed to read the explainer before understanding the theme.
That was super tricky but somehow, with stubborn persistence and luck, I figured out the theme. Then I had to go back and adjust everything accordingly. Wow, kudos to the constructor, that must have been a beast to create!
Solved it using rebuses but couldn’t get it to accept it using any of the typical ways to enter a double rebus. Finally did check puzzle to find out it only wanted the “inflated” letters. Seems like an oversight to not accept the rebus forms. Busted my (admittedly short) streak.
@Steven M. I flunked out on that too! I didn’t know the list extender could be what it turned out to be… oh well, at least I’m always learning. ;)
Solved it, but only after some effort. Minor quibble… Shouldn’t REBEL be RISEUP rather than UPRISE?
