This was a fun puzzle in theory, but such a pain to do on the mobile app because the highlighted answers worked only one way. If they went the other way also, it would have been way easier to check how things were going without trying to keep the related answers placed in my head (not all of us have the luxury of scratch paper - I did this on a bus ride!).

As a relatively new crossword solver, this was my first time encountering a rebus. I put HAY and SUB in what were supposed to be their rebus stacks but was wondering how to fit in SHORT and SMOKE before opening the wordplay blog, and learning how to do rebuses on my phone.
