A not pleasant Tuesday solve. Can’t like them all. Clunky fills. First 10+ min Tuesday solve in several years. Nevertheless, I appreciate the challenge.
@Jamie In lieu of “TRIVIA”, Mr. Walden may use picayune, bagatelle, frippery, or nullity.

@Barry Ancona Experienced solver here who loves a challenging puzzle. Perhaps @MLB was referencing the clues that call upon trivia, esoterica, or minutiae to solve without crossing letters. These are a feature of most puzzles and can be a learning tool for the motivated; but may also act as an impediment to the novice.
@Hitch Yes, spot on. Clever aha clues make for a great puzzle. I did like the clue for SECONDSTRINGERS.
