@Jake G what would happen to this message board if everyone trashed on other people’s simple pleasure and pretended it was polite?

This felt like every other clue was knowledge/trivia /name based. One of the worst Tuesdays ever.

For those complaining about the Natick and obscurity of the SW corner, I would love to see how many people complain about Spanish and German clues which annoy me. I am not Korean but I am East Asian. I've learned of appa from TV shows and elsewhere but it is also coincidentally my dog's name (but named after Avatar: The Last Airbender) and desi (a very common phrase /word heard for me. To me, those are much more common than the random Spanish word references that come up. Don't get me wrong, I did not enjoy the theme and felt many clues were weak and far too much trivia, especially for a Tuesday. 3 names, 2 tribes, Latin, Spanish, and Korean references, all for a weak theme. I did find that the ones most people here are complaining about I had no problems with (ONTILT, SW corner) and just thought it was an interesting view of inherent cultural differences of solvers and constructors.

@G it is still a man aspect of the contest. Nobody calls them bonus entry contests. Terrible clue.

@Tim I've lived in places both of C and F. I recall when I lived in London the wildest thing was weather reports on TV where the temperatures listed were in Celsius but the weather person was talking about Fahrenheit. It was that in-between phase. And let's not even get to talking about stones.

Enjoyed the Mars with bars as others did. The Marner/McPhee cross was not my favorite. Farrier and thither were hard for me as an intermediate solver. Love the inclusion of Schweppes. That takes me back.

Really enjoyed this one and impressive construction. I’m a bit confused on the order for the down themed clues though. My interpretation is that left clues are when the L blinker is on and right clues use the R. This tracks for all across and tracks for eg 6D Perfect/Concept (IDEAL/IDEA) or 1D. But then multiple down clues have it reversed. Injury / Christmas entree HARM/HAM Perturb / Frying need ROIL / OIL Seems to be those clues should be swapped?

@Jacqui TIL rebus does not only refer to puzzles where you fit more than one character into a space.

@Peter Yes. So many of these types of misdirections today that are just inaccurate and frustrating.
