Weird Tuesday. Why so much obscure fill?
Not a fan of this puzzle at all! The theme felt inconsistent and just odd. The gimmick did not have a satisfying reveal like Thursday puzzles are meant to. Sorry
Goofy me! Finished the puzzle super quickly but had to read the article to understand what the theme was all about! Fun solve!
Took me a while to find vole instead of mole. Will there ever be a week in which the NYT doesn't use eel or eely? Sigh....
Who here actually says "SKEDS"? I could accept "scheds" but skeds? Really? Maybe I'm just getting old...
It's my birthday! What better way to start my morning than with my favourite crossword day of the week. I love Saturdays. Found this puzzle relatively easy until the very end: can the constructers stop putting so many crossing names!! _ECHE and _EDER had me stumped.
Underwhelming theme… also light is measured in lumens. Watts are a unit of power.
Too many names crossing with other names. Also why put a misquote if it isn't true? 24D finally gave my math degree some use though! Fun and funky friday.
Always love a rebus on a Wednesday to switch things up! When I first saw 2D longer than 3 letters I thought we could escape EEL, but alas... Fun solve!
As a mathematician, I very much protest 17A being obsolete. But as a "recreational rock climber" myself, this was a fun solve! Happy Monday!
Somehow this puzzle felt harder than a Tuesday to me, but had just the right amount of aha moments. Loved it!
Happy π day! Loved this puzzle. Baking a chicken pot pie tonight for celebration.
Loved this theme! Set a new PR for Thursdays at 16:16! Thanks for the fun solve. For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, I would highly recommend Inside Out 2.
Loved it! What a cute theme. Those entries were genius.
One of the best Sunday puzzles I've done in a long time! The clueing was just genius! So much word play, so many "aha!" moments. Loved it!
Sundays are always my least favorite day. Too much compromising fill just for a cute-sy theme. I spent too much time searching for GAWP, not GAWk. Also, who spells MOOSHU pork like that outside the midwest?
cATLIKE had me stumped for a while trying to figure out why one might see cOATS at the harbor.... Happy Thursday everyone!
Sunday is usually not my favorite day but this puzzle reminded me there can be good ones! Absolutely loved this puzzle. Clever fun theme and good clues. Didn't even realize all the wheels had subject abbreviations in them until the very end, what a lovely surprise!
Cute theme! Enjoyed this one. Happy hump day everyone.
@Steven Agree, it's been downhill ever since Shortz left.
I'd like to pick a bone with "TEENTSY." Feels a bit of a cop out fill word. Otherwise, fantastic puzzle! Loved TUXEDO CATS
The NYT editors need to study some physics. Gamma is used as the variable and it is not a unit! The unit is a Tesla!! Sigh...
Can constructors stop crossing three names with each other? The SE corner killed me!
Appropriate puzzle to accompany the release of "Pips"! Excited for the new NYT game.
That was a breeze! Definitely felt more like a Wednesday puzzle to me... so many modern references. I solved it before even having a chance to take a sip of coffee!
Liked this puzzle a lot! Clever clues and fun fill! Super enjoyable solve. TIL about INCOGMEATO and had a good laugh. Also thought 43A was a great clue.
Boggy over REEDY had me stumped in the middle section for a while - but ended up finishing well under average time for a Thursday! Felt on the easier side, but nothing like a quick solve to boost your confidence in the morning. Hope everyone has a great day today!
I don't know if there was a typo in the online version, or if my computer won't show the integral symbol, but my clue for 99A was just "workout routine." Maybe have the editors check the online version again?
Such a great puzzle! Well constructed and fun theme.
An absolute joy of a solve! Great clues, lots of fun. Happy Saturday!
I had to go beast mode to solve this puzzle, thanks G
It's my birthday! A fun solve to start the morning. Minor bone to pick: I believe the plural of octopus is "octopuses," not "octopi."
Well done Spencer! This puzzle was fantastically crafted. 29A had me thinking about Trader Joe's, but maybe that was just the peanut butter cups I was munching on...
A beautiful Monday solve, thanks Freddie! Hope everyone has a great week.
Disappointed in this theme. I was able to figure out the monsters pretty quickly and filled them all in, only to be then stuck debugging for 10 mins: what is a cubig foot ??? A cute idea but poor execution. I don't think the etidors should have let this one slide... sigh.
Drinkypoo! Thought this one had some obscure fill. But maybe that's my old age getting to me...
@Byron I saw that clue and immediately fumed. Saunas are 100% Finnish.
An appropriate theme while I swelter in my apartment with no AC during this heat wave!
A toughie til the end! As someone who has studied a lot of Galois theory I was excited to see his appearance.
RIP Armani. That's a crazy coincidence considering this puzzle was probably finished weeks or months ago.
When I saw the pickaxe, I really wanted the theme to be Minecraft.
Good puzzle! Cute clues! On the easy side for a Friday but sometimes we all need that confidence boost. Great way to set the solving weekend.
Southwest corner was a bit esoteric IMO. Finished way higher than average time, but alas. You can’t win ‘em all.
Paw prints had me smiling. I also got a giggle out of 20A. Happy Saturday!
This is the second time they've incorrectly clued "KILOTON" as a unit of force. Kiloton is a unit of mass - not force, not power. Get it together editors! Regardless, I enjoyed the solve today with my freshly brewed mug of FRENCH PRESS.
Easiest Saturday I've done in a long time. Felt like a Wednesday to me. Fun clues though!
Bah, never seen Star Trek so this one was rough.
Not a fan. The theme entries felt inconsistent by relying on pronunciation rather than spelling. Pig latin is phonetic. but it still felt off to me. Also full of entries that left me thinking, "really? That's a thing?"
Ouch a toughie! Took me longer than I'd like to admit even with looking up some names.
