I got it right from the crosses, but it took too long to figure out what MAN-DMS were.
@Lewis our daughter in Asheville is celebrating with you for the same reason. Toasting Ashevilleites with potable water!
@Lewis I’m surprised Caitlin didn’t mention the first letters of the rebuses (rebi?) spell out STAR WARS. Maybe I missed it.
@Cherry Dominoes. A plug for the new game Pips.
@Sam, Prick, probe Pray for the emus
@Lydia Mine changed about a month ago. Suddenly instead of working in the digital publication, I was redirected to the Games app. After leaving the app, for say a lookup, then returning to the puzzle now takes several clicks. Not at all happy about the change.
Lyle Lovett says “Pants is Overrated”. I generally agree, but that attitude was not helpful for this puzzle. https://youtu.be/dS_DWLjnEW0?si=ktOrUzzsA1hx_uFG
@John Carson Whoa!!!. Never thought I’d have to Google Strands!
@dk I had the same problem for a few days. Now you get to Wordplay by clicking on the “i” at the top of the page. I always assumed it stood for information. Don’t know why no one seems to be talking about this change, but I do notice that the number of comments has decreased.
@Sam Ohh is 36D, not 36A
@Helen Wright Bud Selig was the commissioner of MLB
My son before he could read recited for “I am Luke Skywalker, I come unarmed.” “I am Luke Skywalker, I’m coming’ on.”
@Lewis Raising my hand
@Manfred S. Rothstein, over the years I have wondered the same about Barry. I hope he responds. In the meantime, and this is a wild guess, this profile fits the little he has revealed about himself. I ask, “Who is that masked man?” https://prabook.com/web/barry.ancona/255501
@John Carson I agree. Not a very good clue. How about “Device providing ignition in an engine”? Yes it helps start the engine, but then it keeps firing hundreds of times a minute to keep it running.
I love Sam’s clever and approachable writing. Today I have a nit to pick with her. Isn’t the Whitman poem, “O Captain! My Captain!”, not Oh Captain! Oh Captains? It’s about slain Abe Lincoln. Maybe I have this wrong, or am missing the joke.
Ok Sam . Pick a nit with me. You wrote “O Captains! My Captains!”. I still think it “Captain” should be singular.
@Debbie Tart Lots of us are struggling with the change. Now you click on the “i” on the top of the page. Don’t know why no one alerted us about the change. Comment volume is down because of it
