@bb I can't believe I solved it, been crosswording less than a year. So many names I didn't know. Saeed, Larter, Rosamund, Delaney, Reem. I more or less knew the rest, and even remembered how to spell Comaneci.

A quick question: in my stats, it says my "solve rate" is 99.8%. I've been doing the puzzle for a little over a year, so I guess that means I've started one, and didn't finish it? But I went through the entire archive, and couldn't find one partially completed. So I looked again. Nope. Is there any way to find out what puzzle it thinks I haven't finished? I would think a more interesting stat would be percentage of puzzles finished without clues. If there's a better place to post this question, where would that be?

@Jack McCullough Yes, I'm that Jeff! Keep trying with the non-dominant hand. One thing I did to learn that was to stand in front of a mirror and play something simple (say just a triplet) with my dominant hand, while watching carefully how it's moving. Then try to do that same movement with the other hand while watching it in the mirror. For a long time, I only played very simple patterns with my left hand - even just a single accent now and again can add variety.

@Francis I'm not worried about streaks, I'm not good enough to get long streaks. If I get stuck, I use the "Check" or "Reveal" buttons, which breaks the streak. But I only gave up on 2 in January, so I'm getting better! It's the "Solve Rate" which was bugging me, but it's fixed now! (See other comments).

@Alexis Thanks, that solved my problem! I think I had seen that tab before, but forgot about it. It's on the main www.nytimes.com/crosswords page. If you scroll past all the games, it shows the "Monthly Bonus" puzzle, then shows "Last 7 Days", and a grayed-out tab "In Progress." By clicking on that tab, I was able to find 2 puzzles it thought I started, and I finished them, and now my solve rate is 100% and I feel better. Oddly, I checked the archive before doing those "In Progress" puzzles, and they were marked just like the other un-started puzzles, a square with black-and-white squares in it, no color. My guess is that I clicked on the puzzles and never entered any answers, but the software still flagged it as "started." The clock was running. But the archive doesn't check that flag or the clock or whatever to pick the icon to display, it checks to see if you actually entered anything. So you can get the situation I had.

@Dan There's apparently a bug in the archive, where it displays puzzles you've clicked on but not entered anything as un-started (see my comment above). So that method didn't work. But I did find the "In Progress" tab, and that revealed two puzzles which I finished, and now I'm at 100%! Thanks.

The "END" key moves the text cursor to the end of the current line. I use it often. Ctrl-END moves the cursor to the end of your document (usually). The HOME key does the opposite, moves the cursor to the start of a line, or the top of the document with CTRL. Also, I just found a bug in the app and website, is there someone I can email about that? Basically, in the archive, it mistakenly displays puzzles you've started (clicked on the PLAY button) but haven't entered any text into as un-started. They will also count against you in your "Solve Rate" in the statistics.
