22A - The First Amendment (the entire Bill of Rights, TBH) does not “grant” rights. It acknowledges and affirms inalienable rights postulated to exist. Sad to see this incorrect interpretation so close to Independence Day, but not surprised. It left a sour aftertaste offsetting this tasty ice cream sundae of a puzzle.
@CCNY Naticks are traditionally known as crossing proper nouns. I only counted the three I didn’t get. Initially. Perhaps one day I’ll be good enough to wear a superiorly smug facade. :)
@Steve L - Sort of a “chicken or the egg” scenario? ;) Lack of legal authorization doesn’t invalidate what exists. There is no mention of kangaroos on Noah’s Ark. But this is a forum for xwords, not philosophy. I won’t belabor the point.
