@Andrzej I read somewhere that an average American football game has 11 minutes of actual play time in a 3 hour broadcast. The rest is standing around.
My first Friday ever. And well under an hour. Getting the iconic Disney ride corrected all my errors and misdirects. I might be getting better at this. Let's see how Saturday goes.
Thought the clues were solid for a Sunday. Tricky but not impenetrable. I'm not so sure about the theme. I mean I kind of get it but it feels a bit forced.
Just under half hour. I'm improving or the clues are getting easier. A due, Ad-in, gun lap and Graf got me. Spent five minutes trying to figure that bit out.
Spent 5 minutes finding out that I wasn't a pirate and ARR isn't the correct thing to say when something makes you mad. But other than that I thought the clues were pretty easy and the theme while a bit puzzling at first made sense. Oddly enough I completed this puzzle from the bottom up. Good time but I wish I hadn't lost those minutes looking for something obvious.
@Vaer The core code of an operating system is called the 'kernel' and when something bad happens there it's called a 'kernel panic'. So perhaps if you're needing to look at the key you're experiencing one?
I was just talking about the uvula with my son yesterday so that was an easy clue for me. Got the theme fairly early on but still struggled in some places. Having 'preview' instead of 'presale' was a real problem. Took a little longer than usual.
Had to look up Arbus because I didn't know who she was and always thought it was 'Oy Papi'. Also had no idea who Sir ___ Hercules John was but would have gotten Sir ___ John. Oh and didn't know the Disney princesses. Pretty good Thursday for me.
I thought I was struggling with this one but it turned out that I finished in just about a minute over my average time. I did have to take a couple breaks as that sometimes helps me reframe a clue in a more helpful way. The clues were clever enough but not impenetrable.
@Barry Ancona It does seem like an odd clue since it's my understanding that you remain a Yalie even after you graduate. Perhaps 'still' would have been better than 'once'.
I'm another one who got a PR on this puzzle. Still enjoyed it.
@Times Rita Kids' menus will frequently have a kind of proto-crossword where there are only a dozen or so clues which cross each other with big gaps and without conforming to a square. I don't know if that's the actual name of the puzzle type but it made sense.
@Joe I got 'look im a deahat.' No idea what a 'deahat' is but sometime I don't understand the themes. :)
@Rebecca Yeah, 'drops' is the obvious answer and the crosses weren't really helping me. Dinks??? I struggled with the upper left too but most of the rest was easy.
