@Marshall Walthew I came here to say the same thing: I’m delighted to see “Moe” clued in this way. I think it’s the first time I’ve seen her appear in a puzzle and glad Margaret Seikel corrected this oversight! (Also thrilled to see a puzzler who loves the Velvets AND Josh Ritter. The latter was a college classmate and it’s been fun to see him go from campus coffee shops to much bigger venues.)
Super fun puzzle and I *loved* the constructor notes. So fun to see the thought process presented in such a clever way. I would greedily read the text thread behind every collaborative puzzle.
@Marshall Walthew outstanding. Screenshotted for my rainy-day-laughs file. Thank you!
I’m surprised to see the gender-neutral clue “guitarist, informally” solve to the gender-specific AXMAN. It wouldn’t have lost anything to clue it with something like “guitar guy, informally.”
Who can explain 28-down to me?
@Marshall Walthew aw, I love that! Sometimes the apple falls far from the tree. Nice to have points of musical connection. ☺️
Excited to see Kameron Austin Collins’ name on the puzzle today after so long! His was the first constructor’s name I ever learned to look out for — because every time I solved one of his grids, I giddily checked the byline to see who had made such a wild and fun puzzle. Today’s outing did not disappoint! I hope we see him back here soon!
@Ed @Vaer @lis thanks for clearing that up! Presidential history is a weak point for me. (And so is musical theatre 😅)
@Steve L My point is not that the clue was misleading or confusing. It’s that most people, when asked to picture a guitarist, will picture a man. I think it’s worth taking every opportunity to shatter that perception. (Speaking personally, as an axwoman.)
