@Francis The ark is the cabinet on the platform of the synagogue that holds the Torah scroll or scrolls owned by the congregation. To be slightly more precise than the clue in the puzzle, it's the Torah scroll itself that is the holy object, not the ark, although the Hebrew phrase is "Aron ha-kodesh," "holy ark."
