@Joe I have a math background but as I did the puzzle I wondered how many adult Americans would remember that from their school days, not something that comes up in everyday math.

@jak I remember watching a series on the Medici and the female head of the family was referred to as Countessa which is why I was reasonable confident in the answer.

@Gregg If you Google London, On to Lake Erie the first result is a travel website that says it is 119 miles but that is from London to Lake Erie Beach near Vermilion, OH (SSW as the crow flies). It might have been a good idea to look at a map rather than accepting the first result.

@Francis I am a pretty big football fan and I thought the clue was kind of weak. The Dallas NHL team is the Stars but interestingly that is because the were originally the Minnesota North Stars and obviously north doesn't work in Dallas.

@Chris Add my agreement, even going back to high school Latin, I was never taught the masculine form/ending is also used just the feminime .
