“Pan in” is wrong and it makes no sense. A camera pans when the shot moves to the left or right. “Zoom in” is what this clue is talking about.

Can we please get past having differences in print-edition and online-edition puzzles? I’m tired of reading post-puzzle NYT explanations of how the print edition would’ve made more sense.

(1) 1/4 is a fraction—not a percent. (2) What is “seered”??—do you mean “seared”? (which is not really correct either—sorta like item (1) ). (3) The rebus crossings are a mess. How this got published I’ll never know.
