I haven't commented in a while, but given some of the comments I wanted to weigh in to say how much I enjoyed this puzzle! I loved the theme, and I thought the clueing was delightful throughout, with my favorites including "[Hey, I can hear you, you know]" for AHEM, "Loud speaker, maybe" for ORATOR, and "Further out there" for ZANIER. I savored the unexpected level of difficulty required, as Tuesday puzzles have been a little too Monday-ish for me of late. Thanks, David, for a wonderful start to my day, and congratulations on your terrific NYT debut - I'll be looking forward to seeing your name here again soon!
Delightful puzzle, from SPOONERISM to Shakespeare (with Twelfth Night's Toby BELCH and Hamlet's "aye, there's the RUB). So let us eat and drink CRISPY BACON and APPLETINIS, and dance with Jonathan Richman at the LESBIAN BAR (<a href="https://youtu.be/qTLsfZk-FpE?si=GQNI0DPWyK3bMVql" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/qTLsfZk-FpE?si=GQNI0DPWyK3bMVql</a>) - a fun Saturday in all respects!
@john ezra I don’t make it to the Comment section much these days, but I’m interested in the Best of 2024 that I believe you and others have organized - would you point me to where I’d find the lists, voting, etc.? Thank you!
@john ezra Thank you! And thank all of you for putting it all together!
@Times Rita I don’t come by that often these days, but saw your comment to Tuesday’s puzzle and came here to wish you a speedy recovery! I’ve always enjoyed your comments, and hope you’ll be back to easily navigating the puzzle soon!
