Flemish? This was hard for those of us who only understand Walloonish.
Spent a good five minutes wandering around trying to get a foothold on this puzzle...sticking a pluralizing S here and there. Then the clues slowly started to open up. Fun puzzle. Got interrupted by the cat, which didn't help my time, but still around 34 minutes.
Fun puzzle. Slow start for me. Everything was in my head, but getting it out was another thing.
This was a good 'un. It seemed hard to get going, but then things started to flow a bit. Upper left corner was the last part to fall, mainly cause I couldn't remember what the heck a bandolier is...even though I had just heard the term somewhere. Was it Jeopardy? (Somebody PLEASE notice how clever I am...) Any-old-how, got 'er done in under 24 minutes, which is not bad at all for me on a Saturday.
Didn't really vibe with this puzzle but finally got through it in a little over an hour. It's one of those crafty puzzles that is not really hard in retrospect, just had a hard time nailing down enough crosses at first. Took a couple breaks to let the "little grey cells" do their thing, et voila!
Got cornered in the upper left for a while. Plus I really need to read Steinbeck.
Pretty much like filling out a form, this one. Ah well.
Pretty much just filled this one out. It felt Wednesday-ish to me. Sometimes you just grok a puzzle and sometimes you don't.
Didn't figure out the sting in this puzzle until I finished it, but fairly easily completed on the crosses. Some nice clues in there!
Took over an hour with this puzzle. Sometimes I feel like I'm just not jibing with the puzzle writer. Finally got going on the bottom half. Got cornered in the upper right, otherwise I would have solved in under an hour. Had to plug and chug on VEZ/ELIA until the piano let me know I was done.
The only problem with this, filling it out online, is that the puzzle was solved before I actually figured out what was going on. It's totally solvable on the across clues without figuring out what the crosses are supposed to mean. It only took a few seconds of reflection to "get" it, but I still feel like I cheated.
A good 'un. The lower half was definitely more approachable but the top half unlocked fairly easily on the crosses. I solved quicker than usual for a Saturday, but didn't feel shortchanged on the difficulty aspect.
@MFSTEVE Anything with interstellar travel in it is fantasy.
I thought this puzzle was novel. I really couldn't understand the theme until I filled out the whole puzzle and then, it unlocked pretty easily. I kinda wondered "so where's the trick?" but maybe that was the point. On a Thursday, I always figure it's kinda anything goes (up to a point), so a good weekend warmup!
