Sorry, but baptisms don’t take place at altars. They’re done in a baptismal font or pool, or in a river, depending on the church involved.
I was delighted to see Enrico and Marie in today’s puzzle! This was a breeze, but a pleasant one.
“Alumni” is plural. A single graduate is an alumnus or an alumna. (Sorry, this is a pet peeve of mine.)
I’ve given way on “data,” along as it’s either plural or singular, but the spirit of my grandmother, an alumna of Brenau College, would haunt me for the rest of my life if I called her an alumni.
@Leapfinger, not to nitpick (oh, who am I kidding?!?), but it was Robert A. Heinlein, not Isaac Asimov, who came up with WALDO.
@Grant, where does Mothman rank on your list?
@Bill, “O” by itself is a legitimate interjection—“O for a thousand tongues to sing” comes to mind.
