I really didnt care for the clues in this puzzle and some of the words. For some reason certain puzzle makers cater to the part of my brain that can solve a lot of puzzles, this author is not one of them. My usual pet peeves are present, which I absolutely detest, being a person’s name and clues requiring knowledge of another language. I have never understood why these are included in NYT puzzles, they drive me nuts!!
I really disliked this puzzle. Way too hard. I also HATE clues with people’s names and foreign language words. Both are totally dependent on specific knowledge and cannot be “figured out”. Terrible puzzle.
Hated this puzzle for a Wednesday. Way, way too confusing and difficult.
XMAS was last week, not present day. I don’t get it.
“Semaphore”… really? No one in the history of the world, except the person who made it up, has ever known or used this word. Puzzles with words like this stink and i quit because of them. Proper nouns and foreign language words are my other turnoffs.
